One of our new favorite places in Wallingford, just east of the University District. Located at 1401 N. 45th St., these folks celebrate good food and wine! "Where wine and food collide." WE LOVE IT! You can keep typing any amount in one paragraph.
You will, too. Owner Dana Hannon was there when I walked in at 5:00pm. Two of us sat at the small bar while Dana recommended a "flight" of wine to start the evening. I picked the "Washington Redskins", which included Delille Cellars "D2", a Gamache Vintner's "Boulder Red" and a Hedges "3 Vineyards". Each was poured into a three-ounce glass. Dana served it up on a sheet of paper with three circles where she's written the name of the wine. This is a great way to taste several different wines. Choose small dishes from the menu, including "Yukon Gold Tater Tots" or "Sweet Corn and Dungeness Crab Chowder with Sherry". Whoo-boy. You can move on to "Duck and Shiitake Spring Rolls, Soy Sesame and Sweet Chili Sauce". These are the creations of Chef Krisen S. Ratcliffe. Save room for a selection from the cheese board. DELICIOUS. Remember: Cheese is the "new dessert". Really, Dana was a great help in pairing wines with the food. It's a fun place to eat--and it's walking distance from the Hotel Deca in the University District. Stop in. Tell Dana I sent you. If you get a chance, taste some of the Betz Family wines. Delightful.
